The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships are happening in Italy this month – let’s take a closer look at other Nordic Sports

As Nordic Walking originates from the Nordic winter sport of cross country skiing, we thought that you (like us) might be interested in the upcoming FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Over the next few weeks, we will enjoy providing you with interesting information about this great sports event, as well as the sports it involves.

The championship runs over 11 days (20th Feb – 3rd March) and includes competitions in Ski Jumping, Cross Country Skiing and Nordic Combined. This year’s event is happening in in Val di Fiemme, Italy.

For you as a Nordic Walker, it might be very interesting to view and compare the use of poles and classic technique of a cross country skier with your own use of poles and technique.

For a taste of what is to come have a look at some of the footage from the 2011 Nordic Ski Championships 2011 that happened in Oslo, Norway.
